General Store Studio

The General Store studio is nestled in the green hills of South Gippsland, around an hour and a half’s drive southeast of Melbourne. Built around a 100 year old bakery, the studio has a large main room and two adjoining smaller rooms. There’s lots of windows looking out at the local greenery and plenty of natural light. The studio boasts a modern Pro Tools digital set-up alongside a 16-track tape machine and 28 channel Neotek mixing console, lots of flavoursome outboard pre-amps (Neve, API, Retro, Universal Audio) and other processors. There are a wide range of conventional and non-conventional instruments available alongside a tasty selection of guitar and bass amplifiers and drums. Microphones by Neumann, Sennheiser, Soyuz, Shure and ADK capture the magic while studio fever can be alleviated by lunch in nearby cafes or a trip to the beach (15 minute drive). Affordable and excellent accommodation for bands is available in cabin retreats nearby.
